If a green colored leaf is dipped in iodine solution then its color would change to blue black. But, the leaf cannot be dipped directly into the iodine solution, it has to be prepared before that. The leaf has to be boiled in water for 5-10 minutes. Then dipped in alcohol and kept at 60°C for 45 minutes. Again dipped in hot water and wiped. Then iodine solution is added on it. Here, blue black color would be observed on leaf.
