If in a meter bridge we directly connect the resistors to the wire instead of connecting it to the copper metal strip what would happen??

Copper strips just provide a passage for current to reach resistors. If we connect resistors directly to the wire it doesn't make any difference but the circuit will need high care to handle as it get sensitive for any damage to it.
