Question

If pressure is increased, what effect will it have on the boiling point and melting point of any substance?

Open in App
Solution

Both boiling and melting points are proportional to pressure. So, with increasing pressure both melting and boiling points will increase as molecules become more confined and more energy is required to free them and turn the change phase.
