Question

If the relative density of aluminium is 2.7 and the density of water is 1000 kg/m3 , what is the density of aluminium in SIunit ?

Open in App
Solution

The Relative Density of a substance is the ratio of its density to that of water. i.e.

Relative Density = Density of substance / Density of water.

Relative Density is unitless.

We are given that the relative density of aluminium is 2.7 and the density of water is 1000 Kg / m3. So, density of aluminium will be

= relative density of aluminium X density of water

= 2.7 X 1000 Kg /m3

= 2.7 X 1000 Kg /m3

Thus, the density of aluminium in SI units is 2.7 X 1000 Kg /m3.
