Question

if water molecules move through a semi permeable membrana ,then how do plants perform osmosis ?

Open in App
Solution

Plants absorb water and mineral salts by the root hairs and passes to the other cells of the plant body by the process of osmosis.

The solution in the roots of the plants is hypertonic, drawing in water from the surrounding hypotonic soil. Roots are designed as selectively permeable membranes and they allow water and some solutes like minerals for the survival of plants.
