Question

if we fill different coloured WATER in a hollow prism, like blue coloured water or red coloured water, how does the refractive index changes? will it be the same as that of water itself?

Solution

We know that the change in direction of light when it passes from one medium to another is called refraction of light. The bending of light in a medium or you can say the refractive index depends on the wavelength of light and nature of the material (optical density) used. So, Here the refractive index will also depend on the optical densities of normal water and colored water.
