Solution

If we keep different parts of plant separate from each other and test them for the release of carbon dioxide with lime water, all the parts of the plant will turn the lime water milky. This is because all the parts of the plant respire and release carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide released reacts with the lime water thus turning it milky. If the leaves and the green stem is freshly plucked, it will still carry the process of photosynthesis for some time. The leaves and the green stem will utilize the carbon dioxide released for the process of photosynthesis and less carbon dioxide will be released. Thus, lime water will turn milky slowly by leaves and the green stem but will turn milky by all the parts of the plant.
