Question

if we see pole star in night we will find that it is stationary in the sky?

Open in App
Solution

If we look at the starry sky at the night while we are in rest all stars will appear to be at rest and if we move all stars will appear to move with us. This is because stars move too slowly to be detected their movement by just looking. However, if we observe for a long time say four or five hours we shall find that stars have displaced a little from their positions in form of circles around the sky. But the pole star will not appear to move at all in the sky.

To study the motion of stars we must use telescopes.
