if wood is called a polymer then why isn't metal called a polymer?

Dear student!

Polymer is simply defined as the macromolecules formed by repeating simpler molecular unit which join together by covalent bonds. While in case, of metals, the metals are joined by metallic bond and covalent bonding is not possible and so they are not called as polymer.
