If work done in bringing 1C of charge from infinity to any point in the electric field without accelerating against the electric field is 1J, then electric potential at that point will be 1Volt. WHy the charge can not be accelerated against the electric field?

The electric potential at a point in an electric field is defined as the work done in moving a unit positive charge from infinity to that point.and also it is true that an electric field exerts a force on charged particles, accelerating them in the direction of the force, in either the same or the opposite direction of the electric field.
