Question

in 3 moles of ethane{ c2h6} calculate : no of moles of carbon atoms

: no of moles of hydrogen atoms

: no of moleules of ethane

Open in App
Solution

Molecular formula of ethane = C2H6
Thus 1 molecule contains 2 atoms of C, i.e. 1 mole will contain 2 moles of C
hence 3 moles will contain = 6 moles of C atoms.

Similarly 1 molecule of ethane contains 6 atoms of H.
Hence 3 moles of ethane will contain 3 x 6 = 18 moles of H.

1 mole of ethane = 6.022 x 1023 molecules of ethane
Thus 3 moles = 3 x 6.022 x 1023 = 1.8 x 1024 molecules of ethane.
