In a particular plant species majority of the plants bear purple flowers. Very few plants bear white flowers. No intermediate colors are observed. If you are given a plant with purple flowers, how would you confirm that its a pure breed for that trait?

The genotype can be confirmed by carrying out a test cross, i.e. crossing the plant with a recessive white flowered flower.
