In AC, the direction of current keeps on changing. So why there is any difference bw live wire n neutral wire? both should have same importance.

The basic difference between a live wire and neutral wire is the purpose . Live wire has a purpose to provide electrons to the appliance , whereas neutral wire has to remove any electrons which accumulate on the surface of the appliance to avoid a electric shock . Even in AC or in DC , they individually serve their respective motives . It has nothing to do with direction of flow .
