Question

in bernoulli's law , why is the work taken as negative on the fluid ??

Open in App
Solution

The work done on the fluid is taken to be negative as the force exerted on it tends to causes retardation in it or slows it down. Due to this restricting nature of the force, the corresponding work done is taken to be negative (here acceleration is negative).

This is an accepted convention in science.
