Question

In collision between a heavier body and a lighter body how do the force experience by the two bodies compare

Open in App
Solution

During collision of two bodies, the force experienced by both the bodies are equal and opposite. This is according to Newton’s 3rd law of motion. But, the acceleration produced on the bodies are different and depends on the masses.

F = ma

So, the lighter mass will gain high acceleration and the heavier mass will gain low acceleration.
