Question

in coulomb's law,on what factors the value of electrostatic force constant K depends?

Open in App
Solution

The proportionality constant ‘k’ in Coulomb;'s Law is given by,

k = 1/(4πε)

ε = εoεr

Where, εo is the permittivity of vacuum and εr is the relative permittivity of the medium.

εr = 1 for vacuum

εr = 88 for water

Thus, ‘k’ depends on the relative permittivity of the medium.
