In kitchen utensils (for eg-frying pan)heat travels by the process of conduction and the handle of pan are made of plastic. Why does not the handle burn or the tip or any part burn as it also recives heat from the metal?
Plastics have poor thermal conductivity i.e. they do not transfer heat readily or in other words they 'absorb' heat.
Hence, in spite of receiving heat from the pan they absorb it to remain cold.
