Question

In some cases of pathogens like Human herpesvirus-6, DNA is single stranded. Does such type of DNA follow Chargaff rule?

Open in App
Solution

According to the chargaff's rule percentage of A is equal to the percentage of T and percentage of G is equal to the percentage of C. This is only possible when there is a complementary strand, which is not present in the case of single stranded DNA. Hence, single stranded DNA does not follow Chargaff's rule.
