Question

In terms of charles law explain why -273'C is the lowest possible temprature ?

Open in App
Solution

This minimum possible temperature is 0 K . 0K temperature is also called absolute zero temperature.

Absolute zero (0K) is the temperature at which all the movements of the atoms in a substance stop.

The temperature is the measure of vibrations of the atoms. As there are no vibrations beyond absolute zero, a temperature below 0K is not possible

As we know

oC =K -273

so

At absolute Zero

oC = 0-273 = -273.

Thus the minimum possible temperature is 0 K or -273oC.
