In the preparation of methanal or enthanal we use Molybdenum as a catalyst .WHY ?? what other catalyst can be used other than molybdenum ??

The function of a catalyst is both to speed up a chemical reaction and to steer it towards a desired product. Molybdenum compounds perform the same functions effectively in certain reactions are thus use as catalysts.

Other than molybdenum, silver oxide can be used as a catalyst for the preparation of methanal and ethanal.
