Open in App
Solution

If S.H.E acts as anode..

The hydrogen gas of the electrode gets oxidised to produce H+ ions.

H2(g)→ H+ +2e-

If S.H.E act as cathode...

The hydrogen ion of the HCl solution gets reduced to form hydrogen gas.

H+ +2e- →H2(g)
