Srinivas Das had published a novel in 1882 through which it tried to teach the newly evolving middle class to maintain a balance between modernity and traditionality. In is novels, the writer tried to portray how the characters tried to minimise two different worlds through their actions.
The positive aspects of modernity were adopted like taking up a new agricultural method, modernising the practises of trading, changing the use of Indian languages and modulate it in a way to adapt both modern sciences and Indian wisdom.
The young generation was advised to cultivate the good habit of reading newspaper and accumulating knowledge and information. The traditional values of the middle class should always be retained even though one adopts modernity in actions.
