in which form does a soyabean plant transport nitrogen?
The soyabean plants may be normal or nodulated (with nitrogen fixing bacteria in the roots). The normal roots transport nitrogen in the form of nitrates from the soil to leaves and other parts. Nodulated plants utilize both combined nitrogen absorbed by the roots and nitrogen fixed by the bacteria in the root nodules. In soyabean plants, the nitrogen fixed from root nodules is transported mainly as ureides (allantoin and allantoic acid) whereas the combined nitrogen absorbed by the roots is transported as nitrate.
