In zone refining process why does metal crystalises faster than impurities?

Zone refining is actually a fractional crystallization method, where, the heater melts the band of metal and when the heater is removed the pure metal crystallizes out while the impurities are swept into molten impure metal zone and at the end of refining the impurities remain at one end of the rod.
