Question

inflated balloon lying on the surface of a floor moves forward when pricked with a pin.why

Open in App
Solution

When a balloon is pricked with a pin the air rushing out of the balloon through the hole pushes the air in the surrounding. Now, due to Newton’s third law the air of the surrounding also pushes the balloon with equal and opposite force. Hence, we see the balloon moving in the direction opposite to the pricked hole.
