Is Canal Rays and Cathode Rays are same?
Dear Student!
Not at all. Canal rays are Anode rays. A Beam of positive ions created by a type of gas in discharge tube.
Cathode rays on contrary is an electron beam.
WHY ARE CATHODE RAYS ARE CALLED CANAL RAYS?
(a) What are the cathode rays? What is the nature of charge on cathode rays? (b) Explain how cathode rays are formed from the gas taken in the discharge tube. (c) What conclusion is obtained from the fact that all the gases form cathode rays?
