Question

is haploid and diploid cells anyway related to mitosis and meiosis?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student!

Lets suppose that before the cell division the cell is diploid. If the cell undergoes mitosis then the outcome would be 2 cells which are diploid and if the cell undergoes meiosis then the outcome would be four cells which are haploid. In meiosis the ploidy is halved while in mitosis the ploidy remains the same.
