Question

is hyperconjugative effect distance dependent? explain with an example

Open in App
Solution

Look at the theory of hyperconjugation.
Hyperconjugation: It involves delocalisation of sigma electrons of C-H bond of an alkyl group directly attached to an atom of unsaturated system or an atom with an unshared p orbital.
As definition indicates , " it involves only directly attached alkyl group " hence there is no question of distance.
No other alkyl group participate in hyperconjugation which is not involved directly.
