Solution

It is not necessary that variation is always favorable for organism. The variations that are useful to the organism are selected by nature while as unfavourable variations are eliminated. this is due to the reason that individuals with favourable variations are better adapted than individuals with less favourable variation. It means that nature selects the individuals with useful variation as these individuals are better evolved to survive in the existing environment. Thus, natural selection and environment in which an organism lives determines which variation is favourable for the organism.
Obviously the blue beetle would be finished with a same rate as that of red as this variation is not useful and will get eliminated from the environment.
