Is it necessary to learn the Newland's and Mendeleev's Periodic Table? Are questions put up regarding the same in the exam? And what about Modern Periodic Table?

Open in App
Solution

There is no need to learn Newland's and Mendeleev's classification of elements. In fact at this stage there is no need to learn even the full modern periodic table as will learn about all the groups and table in full detail in grade 11 and 12. You can learn the atomic numbers, atomic masses and the symbols of only the first twenty elements. That would be sufficient at this stage.

You should however be aware about the elements were classified by Mendeleev (that is on what basis Medeleev classified the elements), the shortcomings of Mendeleev's classification of elements and its advantages over other classification of elements.
