Question

Is it that the factors affecting the RESISTANCE ofa conductoris same as the factors affecting the RESISTIVITY of a conductor?

Open in App
Solution

The resistance of a conductor depends on length, thickness, nature of material and temperature of the conductor.

The resistivity depends upon the nature of material and average relaxation time of the free electrons in the conductor.

So, if the resistivity is affected, it will also affect the resistance as the resistance depends on it. But the opposite is not true as the resistance depends upon the physical dimensions as wee.
