Question

Is it true or not that gametes are haploid and other cells are diploid?

Open in App
Solution

Gametes in flowering plants are not necessarily haploid. It depends on the parent plant, If the parent plant is hexaploid as in case of wheat then its gamete would be triploid. In case of diploid angiosperms also the endosperm is triploid. Gametes in general are haploid and the somatic cells of the body are in general diploid.
