Question

is pure water good conductor of electricity and heat?

Open in App
Solution

Pure water is a good conductor of heat. Conduction of heat in water takes place by convection current.

But pure water is not a good conductor of electricity. Because for conduction of electricity, presence of ions or electrons is must. But in pure water, there are no ions. But when an acid or base is added into pure water, then ions are produced in water and it becomes good conductor of electricity.
