Question

Is variation(leading to evolution) possible in modes of asexual reproduction??

Open in App
Solution

In asexual mode of reproduction, a single parent passes all the information into the offspring as it is lying with it.
There is no mixing or modifications through fertilization or contribution by another parent
Since the blue print of all genes are passed in their original form the offspring thus formed is
An exact copy of the parent and SHOWS NO VARIATION.
Although any genetic change in the parent that may occur due to mutation ( sudden change in genes caused by chemicals, viruses or radiations) will pass from parents to offsprings and lead to formation of a new type of variant offspring than earlier.
