It is said that sound is caused by vibrating columns in air. When we blow on the mouth of the bottle it produces a sound. How does this sound come since there is no vibration and if there is vibration, where is it?
When we blow into an empty bottle we are actually disturbing the air parcel inside that bottle. This causes vibrations inside the bottle as the molecules of air start to move frantically back and forth after continuously colliding with the inner bottle surface. This is what produces sound.
