justify the title - chilhood?
Childhood is the most uncomplicated phase in a person's life, full of unadulterated laughter, unconditional love and the pure zest of being alive without any responsibilities. The poem deals with the loss of the most beautiful phase in life and that is childhood. People often indulge in a nostalgic re-visitation of the past but in this poem, the poet is plagued by a pertinent question. This question, 'When did my childhood go?' runs like a refrain throughout the poem. One can never mark a moment of loss but can always be in mourning for that loss. The title is justified by the fact that the poem deals with childhood as a marker for a person's growth, it is the plank from which kids take off and dive into that unknown certainty called life.
