Solution

KCl is an electrovalent compound consisting of K+ and Cl- ions bonded to form a crystal lattice. In water, KCl dissociates into K+ and Cl- ions which are free to move. Due to this, its aqueous solution conducts electricity.

HCl is a covalent compound but in water it forms HCl acid consisting of H+ and Cl- ions which conducts electricity.
