The zero on Celsius scale is arbitrary because it depends on the property associated with one substance only i.e water whereas the zero on Kelvin scale is not arbitrary because it is characteristic of the behaviour associated with all the substances. Hence, Kelvin scale of temperature is regarded as better than Celsius scale.
