1. Release of industrial waste into water bodies.
2. Oil spills during transport of oil through water route causes water pollution.
Harmful effects on life forms from water pollution:
1. Fishes and other organisms living in water bodies are killed due to sewage dumping and other activites in water bodies.
2. Disposal of sewage and fertilizers into water bodies cause eutrophication which is the algal bloom in water. Due to increased algal growth there occurs hypoxia i.e. deprived oxygen and hence this causes death of living organism habituating water bodies.
