Fossils are as such of no disadvantage.
They inturn have many advantages like They provide evidence for evolution. They get convered into various fuels and are used for production of energy etc.
However, fossils that are used as fuels like coal, petrolium have many disadvantages.
(a) Burning of coal and petroleum produces a lot of pollutants causing air pollution.
(b) Fossil fuels release oxides of carbon, nitrogen, sulphur, etc. that cause acid rain, which affects the soil fertility and potable water.
(c) Burning of fossil fuels produce gases such as carbon dioxide that causes global warming.
(d) Crude oil transportation causes oil spills leading to hazards to the aquatic life.
