Question

Low FF bond dissociation enthalpy.why?

Open in App
Solution

F-F has low bond dissociation energy because of the small size of fluorine atoms. The F-F bond distance is very small due to which there is appreciable inter-electronic repulsion. This repulsion weakens the bond between two fluorine atoms.
