Wireless keyboard and mouse are quite unique as they work without the use of any chord connecting them to the computer, laptop etc. They can either work on radio frequency or infrared. The wireless mechanism consists of two parts, the transmitter which is contained in the device itself and a receiver which is attached to a USB and plugged into the machine. So, a communication link is made and devices can operate by transmitting signals between the transmitter and receiver.

Some devices also work on the bluetooth technology which are getting more popular now.
