At first, B's chance of winning his race is 15; similarly C's chance is 13 and D's chance is 13
after the second race is known to have been won by B or D
B's chance:certainty=15.13=3.5
B's chance=38
Chance of P winning his bet=1×38×13=18
and the chance of P losing it is 78
Thus P's expectation=18 of pounds 12078 pounds 8
=8 pounds
