Question

mention 2 ways in which static friction is a self adjusting force?

Open in App
Solution

The opposing force that comes into play when an object is at rest or tends to move over the surface of another object is static friction. But the actual motion has not yet started. Static friction is the only self adjusting force. Limiting and dynamic frictions are not self-adjusting.
Static friction is called a self adjusting force because;
It has no fixed magnitude and no direction.
It adjusts according to the applied force.
