  2. Laws were enacted to put an end to the practice of Sati and to promote widow remarriage in 1829.
  3. English Education Act was passed in 1835 to introduce Western curriculum in teachings. Hence learning of English language was highly encouraged.
  4. Another reform was the enactment of the Caste Disabilities Removal Act in 1850 in which Christian converts were allowed to become heir to property.
