CONSEQUENCES OF OVEREXTRACTION AND OVERUSE OF COAL AND PETROLEUM
  1. The natural deposits of coal and petroleum will get exhausted on over extraction.
  2. Import of coal and petroleum will increase.
  3. Petroleum products will become costly and may go beyond the reach of ordinary people
  4. Burning of fossil fuels releases considerable amount of pollutants in the atmosphere.
  5. The burning of fossil fuels is adding excessive amount of carbon dioxide in the air leading to greenhouse effect which can cause global warming.
. Fossil fuels take million of years to form. They are limited or exhaustible resources and therefore need to be conserved. These can be preserved by
  • Careful use and management in order to reduce its unwanted loss and minimize its unnecessary use.
  • Instead of using fossil fuel for energy, we should use renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy etc.
  • we can conserve it by using energy efficient devices that consume less fuel
  • We can use public transport for commuting in and around.
