Mention the nature of the state according to the preamble ?
The nature of Indian State as mentioned in the preamble identifies:
a. People as the ultimate source of power and authority.
b. It declares India to be Democratic country where people enjoy equal set of political rights and participate in the governance of the country.
c. It rightly so declares the birth of an independent sovereign country which is free from foreign control internally and externally.
d. India to be socialist state which aims at establishing welfare state looking after the needs of the people, bridging the gap between the rich and poor, and ensuring equitable distribution of public resources.
f. India to be secular state respecting the interests of minority groups granting freedom of religion to all and ensuring Equal respect for all religions.
g. It establishes India to be a Republic where the head of the state will be an elected one and not have a hereditary monarchial system.
h. The preamble also incorporates certain ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity and justice which are to be the guiding principles of our society.
Even though these principles aimed at establishing an ideal society, there exists a gap. There have been instances of corruption, use of muscle money power during elections, exploitation of caste, religion for electoral gains, principles of equality have been flouted, discrimination exist, there is an increased gap between the rich and poor, flaws in the implementation mechanism, but these ideals in the preamble reflect of what Indian State actually stands for making it the most vibrant democracy in the world.
