Mention the rumours that inspired the people to begin french revolution
The main causes of the French Revolution of 1789 were:
i) The prospering elite of wealthy commoners such as merchants, manufacturers, and professionals, commonly called the bourgeoisie, disliked being excluded from positions of power and honor.
ii) The peasants had become increasingly aware of their dismal situation and were less willing to support the anachronistic and suppressive feudal system.
iii) The French philosophers became increasingly popular for writing on thoughts of liberation and socio-political reform.
iv) French participation in the American Revolution had driven the government to the brink of bankruptcy.
v) Crop failures in most parts of the country in 1788, coming on top of a long period of economic difficulties, made the population particularly restless.
