mention the strange similarity b/w plastids and mitochondria with reference to synthesis of their own material?what do they synthesis?

Both mitochondria and plastids have the capability of self replication i.e. they do not depend upon the nucleus of the cell for their duplication/replication/ increase in number as they contain their own DNA and ribosomes. Also, both of them are membrane bound organelles of the cell.

In the cell, mitochondria is responsible for releasing energy and plastids are responsible for trapping sunlight.
