Legitimate:
Democratic government is the people’s government, and the people accept that any development achieved and failure is collective and shared by all. This makes nation building possible.
Accountable:
Democratic institutions have in built checks and balances through a responsible opposition and a parliament and judiciary which constantly interpret the spirit of the constitution and the government is accountable not only to the people who elected it to power but also these institutions.
Responsive:
Through pressure groups, and public protests, the democratic government can check the popularity of its decisions and mechanism of administering justice. A government which is able to respond to grievances faster is able to avoid confrontation and provide good governance.
